I don’t find that to be a key job for a researcher. A senior researcher, maybe. But PMs and designers should be tasked with this.

By that logic, one can also say a designer who avoids doing research isn’t a good designer. It’s true that there are plenty that can and like doing both. But research and design are fundamentally different disciplines that play to different strengths; hence why I grouped them as separate archetypes.
