It’s a good question. Partly that is what inspired me to write from this perspective. The proliferation of large, public design systems I think has made a lot of us feel insecure about our own efforts. I think with the “startup” phase of a system, you are sprouting your first system after you’ve designed quite a bit of screens and workflows.
